Target Audience Research

We showed some people in are target audience are animatic. We then asked them these following questions about the animatic. Here are some people’s answers below.

We will be doing some more target audience feedback. Here is a link to are Target Audience Feedback on brand image

Q: What do you like about the animatic?

Person 1: "I really like the way that the animatic is bright and colourful. I like the way that the beat of the music matches things that are happening in the video, like how the door is slapped when the drums cymbals are hit. I also really like the part of the video when the circle of people are spinning."

Person 2: "I like the way that there is a good amount of narrative in the video so that the concept of the music video can be understood."

Person 3:  "What I like is the way that when something is meant to be moving in the video, like the glass being punched the image moves which makes the animatic look more like a music video. This is done throughout the whole of the video, with the images being zoomed in and other images moving. I think that this looks very effective."

Q: What don’t you like about it?

Person 1: "Something that I don’t like is the way that the people don’t really have faces they just have crosses on their faces. Where as in other parts of the video when it is zoomed in on their faces they have facial features. I think that it would look better if all of the people had faces as this is what they would look like in the actual video."

Person 2:  "I feel that the people turning grey starts a bit too late in the video and that it should start nearer the start of the video."

Person 3: "I think that some of the people that are coloured in grey need to have been coloured in darker, so that the grey people stand out more against the coloured people."

Q: Do you Understand the narrative?

Person 1: "The narrative I feel is that lies are being spread about the main character. I think that the people that are grey are the ones how have been told the lie about him, I got this from the line in the song is the truth is always grey."

Person 2:  "I understand the narrative well through there being a good about of narrative shown in the video. For example the lyrics link in with the images on screen quite a lot, which paints a clearer picture. This helps to make it easier to understand the narrative."

Person 3:  "Yes, I feel that I do understand the narrative. The way that I see the narrative is that the main character is losing touch, like in the lyrics. I also see that other characters in the video are turning grey, like how the lyric says convince me that the truth is always grey. I feel that the other characters are spreading lies about him like how in one of the images two people are taking and one person is grey and the other person is turning grey as they are talking."

Q: What do you feel could be improved?

Person 1: "I think that something that could be done to improve the video would be to have the clothes that are worn in the performance and narrative parts of the video are different. I think that this would make it easier to tell the main character apart in the performance part and the narrative part."

Person 2:  "I feel that the people turning grey should start closer to the start of the video. I think that this would be better. I also think that there should be a scene in the music video where the main character looks at something like for example the sky and it is grey. So that the people watching the music video will have to think about where it is just the sky look a bit grey or if the main character is seeing it as grey, I think that this would be a good thing to put in near the start of him see that people are turning grey."

Person 3: "Something that I thing should be improved is that there is a lot more narrative in the center part of the video but there is not as much performance. In the start of the video there is a lot more performance than narrative. I think that there should be a more equal amount of performance and narrative throughout the whole of the video, so that they is not a lot of one and then a lot of the other."
